“Life’s a Ferris Wheel” – Luna Park, Sydney
At Luna Park in Sydney, the other afternoon; I managed to capture this photo of the Luna Park Ferris wheel in full flight around dusk. This is a single image with a longer exposure to generate the fast motion effect. After I processed it, I sat and stared at it for a while as it reminded me of how life can be sometimes. Life can feel like this spinning Ferris wheel if we become too overwhelmed with the world around us.
As I look around each day, it seems to me that life is getting more complex because of more information, more choices, more technology, and more connectivity. From a personal point of view, I really believe the jury is still out as whether access to all this new technology, information, and continuous online connectivity through social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, etc. is actually improving our quality of life, or just making us feeling more like this Ferris wheel.
As usual, there is always a silver lining and a solution. As humans, we are lucky, as we have choices as to how we live each day, so if you are starting to feel like this Ferris wheel, take some time out and revaluate how you are using this new information and connectivity. You will find taking a step back and unplugging; you will have much more clarity and perspective.
